As the title says, some books I like.
1984:
Seriously, if you haven't read this book already, what are you doing here? get down to the nearest book store/ library and start reading. Maybe a little bit cynical for some people, but it's a good take on what exactly might constitute a "utopian" society, can we achieve such a thing while we are all free-thinking? in this book the answer is no, and free thinking is in fact a crime, resulting in your abduction by the 'thought police'. I'm sure everyone has heard the phrase "big brother is watching you" this is the book that started it. I'd recommend anyone read it, but if you like your books dark and pretty hopeless from start to end then its a great place to start.
Anything by H.P.Lovecraft:
Virtually all of his work is short stories, but they are all worth a read, Mr Lovecraft being the pioneer of the creepy and the downright odd. Don't expect to be going delirious with fright, but they are thouroughly enjoyable and often have a creepy ending that lets you decide where it goes, I'd recommend Call of Cthulhu, and The rats in the walls as good starting points, Herbert West: Reanimator is damn good too.
~more to come later~

I remember we had to read 1984 in HS. I couldn't get through it, kept loosing my concentration in it. LOL. Perhaps I should try again.
As for H.P. Lovecraft, I agree.

*laughs* I'll have to remember to look at that link later. As for the other, never read it, but I'll have to get my hands on it eventually.

1984- Wow, man, just wow is all I have to say. I loved it to death, which is odd as anything even remotely modern political makes me sleepy just thinking about it. This one though held my attention, and I think I finished it in slightly less than two or three days. It is, however, one of those books where if you have to read it for school, then it'll suck; if you read it on your own, it's amazing.
