On the subject of Final Fantasy. I can say yes Final Fantasy is and still one of the greatest games of all time. (well besides Castlevania and Silent Hill for me)
Now I can say I've liked Final Fantasy up to 3 [6]
7 Was ok, too mainstream for me. 8 I never really got into. 9 Was alright. 10 was good. 10 2 made me sad inside. (Is it just me or does every game after 7 remind you of 7?) Tatics was interesting game play. Maybe I'm biased >__>
But before I start a riot lol, I agree. Final Fantasy makes my brain stimulated. *thumbs up*

A lot, and they're still coming too.
One thing I don't like about it. I don't know I think it loses it'self after the 300th game.
Look at star wars, personally I hate star wars. And I think they all suck. But comeon you know he's just making them for the money.
I personally prefer Castlevania my self.
I don't think I ever played Warlord. Whats that for?

Well, I've not played all the FF games, but.... final fantasy 1-3: Couldn't sit down long enough to get into them, thats too retro for me 4: pretty good 5: Again, pretty good, retro fun 6: a -masterpiece- of the old consoles, I loved every second of it, and have never hated a bad guy as much as Kefka 7:I am convinced my purpose in life was to play that game, it was the first PS game I owned/played and it blew me away, only 6 can even hold a candle to it ~nods~ 8: It had good elements, but the whole "I'm the isolaed hero" thing didn't fly too well as Squall has friends swamping him from the word go, kinda loses credibility, and the end of the game seemed cobbled together... 9: Again, some good elements, but largely I felt it was very confining and linear despite the wide range of side areas/quests, I didn't like the child like gfx either. 10: Great game, lame story. 10-2: Not played it all yet, I think that sums it up. And yes, Silent Hill and Castlevania are immense ^^ ~-loves- SoTN~

Lesse, I've played pretty much every Final Fantasy game except the original japanese FFIII, and Final Fantasy Legends II and III.
My all time favorite FF has to be Tactics by a long shot, not even VI or VII were as good. Maybe I just like dark war stories, but I've played it through at least six times. Now for the Breakdown!
1- Pure Classic goodness, I liked playing with different class selections more than anything. 2- Drastically different from the first one, this one actually leans more towards the newer games. Story-wise, preset characters, etc. 3- Like I said, never played the original, not to be confused with Final Fantasy 6 though. 4- One of the darker FF stories in my humble opinion, lots of deaths of important characters, definantly pulls at the heartstrings. Good fun though. 5- Introduces the job system. I love this game purely on principle alone. Changing jobs is awesome! 6- The game that proves you don't need flashy graphics to kick major ass. I loved everything about this game (especially the characters). Pure gaming esctasy. The first FF game I played (back when it was Final Fantasy III on the Super Nintendo). 7- Considered one of the greatest RPG (and game according to a few), what more can you say? I enjoyed this one almost as much as FFVI. Gotta love cross-dressing heroes. 8- I cringe when I think of this game. Not terrible, sure, but it seemed to steer away from all the things that made FF great to begin with. Got to give them credit for trying though, I guess. Best thing about this game was the music. 9- Most people disagree with me, but this is a great game, especially since it goes back to its roots after experimenting with the cyberpunk era in VII and VIII. I'm guilty of playing this one through a few times. Even the characters are suppose to have a retro look. Big head, small bodies? Ringing a bell for anyone? 10- Honestly has to be one of the easiest Final Fantasy games. The story is better than VIII, but still sub-par at best. Excellent battle system though, weird leveling bit though. Another game that experimented. 11- The online Final Fantasy game. I think it shoulda been a spinoff, but well, what do you know? Heavy reliance on party play. Lots of things to do but you mostly spin your time leveling up. Bonus points for having cat girls in it, though.
And now for a handful of the spinoffs:
X-2- After viewing the atrocious pop music opening scene, I almost turned this game off right then, but I held out for a while. I'm not a big fan of the story (though it does get a bit darker as the game goes on, thankfully), I absolutely adore the battle system. Changing jobs on the fly is the best thing EVER. Mystic Quest- I dunno whether this game was trying to be Final Fantasy or Zelda. Definatly weird in terms of gameplay. Tactics- Like I mentioned, best FF of all time. Uber dark story, character class, fun battle system, the whole lot. Spent a bajillion hours playing this game, unlocking every secret and even doing the 2+ hour Cloud sidequest. If you ever get a chance to play this classic, TAKE IT. Legends- The game boy version of Final Fantasy. I'd best describe it as... weak. You dont' really plan out the battles either, just text tells you what the hell happened during the fight. Chocobo Dungeon- You don't get more spun-off then this. A dungeon crawler than follows the exploits of an adorable chocobo and his moogle friend. Kind of wierd in terms of gameplay, has elements of any generic dungeon crawler, with a semi-real time system.
And that about sums up what I think of Final Fantasy games.

I can't say I have much experience with FF. I didn't get into them at all till 10. I haven't finished 10 cause right when I get down to play it again, something comes up I swear. lol I've also played 11. Though I haven't played 10-2. I'm a firm believer in finishing one game before playing it's sequel. lol That's just me though, I'm weird. Pixie: You're fine hun. I know quite a few people who never heard of FF. My parents for one and a few other peoples. Your not alone. *smiles*

The funny thing about Final Fantasy Serena is that they arent sequels of each other. You dont really need to play the first one to understand the story of the next. They are just very good rpgs, if you can ever pick any one of them up and play through it, they're usually pretty fun.
Their plots have very little to do with each other. The only similarities between them is roughly the same style "world" (with monsters and technology, etc), most of them have chocobos, and most of them have a character named Cid (which is a different person in each game.)
I have to say that FF7 was my favorite but i havent played through many of them. It looks like i really need to play six according to the comments.. oh and tactics. Seven was my favorite because it was really the first playstation graphics i was introduced to and i was amazed. I loved the story and i got hooked on level raising rpgs. That new FF7 Advent Children movie, a spin off of the FF7 story, is probably the best CG movie I've ever seen!

I did not know that. Then again, I didn't play FF till 10, so I really wouldn't know. Though I know there is a Cid in most of them. I know many FF fanatics. lol

Ahhh, yess, a point of disagreement I've had with Adam in previous times ~giggles~ I love FF 9... Probably because it was my first Final Fantasy and first playstation game I had. Still play it through repeatedly... Have yet to beat it ~laughs~ One of those feelings where if I ever do finish it, well then, it would all be different. Maybe it's because I'm not really for the futuristic settings of some of the others, especially 7, that makes me biased... But I'm going to stick with Gunslinger on this one
