They watch me Sitting with a dead stare. Do they even see me? I study each of their faces... Each very similar to the next. They watch me... Looking for the slightest mistake, Waiting for my flawlessness To turn to imperfection. They begin to circle like vultures... Yet, strangely, they remain motionless. "Do your best." Are the only Words of encouragement before the account. "Try!" Is their request Made in the form of a commanding threat. I finally come to a perfect close, And with a flushed face, I recede back into the shadows To lick the wounds caused by their stares. It is over... and has just begun. The eternal agony of patience Has settled into my body... And I wait for weeks on end For an answer... It arrives... My best wasn't good enough...
